Enkopiro Camp
Discover a different and unique way of getting to know Kenya, beyond the traditional safari, while you immerse yourself in the wonderful Masai culture. This is the vision come true of Martha, Morris and Enkopiro Camp: an initiative of sustainable tourism whose purpose is to offer unique experiences with a firm commitment to conservation, community participation and the preservation of culture.
When we plan a trip to Kenya, it is common for programs to offer visits to three or four destinations, with stays of 1 or 2 nights in each one. However, this type of itinerary involves spending time traveling, which can not only be exhausting, but also has a negative impact on the environment.
One of the distinctive characteristics of the sustainable travel is the promotion of “Slow Travel”. This philosophy involves spending the majority of your time in one location, offering the opportunity to enjoy a more relaxed pace and fully immerse yourself in the destination. This approach allows you to reserve more time for activities such as safaris and live enriching experiences, while contributing to the support of the local community.
A boutique camp in Maasai Mara for a responsible experience.
Si tu next destination is Kenya, and since the Maasai Mara National Park It is mandatory, Enkopiro Camp offers us this type of sustainable travel.
In the vicinity of the entrance to the park, we found a gem in a unaltered place blended with nature: a camp that is both eco and boutique, only 4 tents, offers us a luxury experience by concept and location. It is located in a private area, in an elephant corridor and other species, which makes it a exclusive accommodation for a unique safari.
We are close enough to enjoy the safari in the Reserve, and far enough to savor the privacy that the Valley can offer us, leaving behind the busiest areas of the Reserve.

A story of passion and creativity linked to Kenya
On the one hand we have Marta, originally from a picturesque village in Girona, Spain, who discovered his true passion for traveling during his vacations, ultimately feeling a deep connection with Kenya. Working in finance in Spain, he realized that he wanted longer-lasting travel experiences, rather than fleeting getaways. After a pivotal trip to Kenya, she was drawn to the country's landscapes, vibrant people and overwhelming emotions during her safari in the Maasai Mara, a place she will always have a special bond in her heart. . And so she felt the famous “call of Africa”.
On the other hand, I present to you Morris, born in Kenya, member of the Kamba tribe. Its roots go back to the beautiful landscapes that surround the magnificent Mau Forest. From a young age, Morris had a strong bond with the Maasai Mara, traveling through its various terrains, driving various types of vehicles and experiencing many adventures over several years. His great fascination with vehicles led him to become one of the most skilled mechanics in remote areas. Morris is passionate about Land Rover vehicles and always thirsts for exploration.
Although Morris's mind is always full of ideas, he has evolved from mechanics to other horizons, transforming humble pieces of local wood into exquisite and unique furniture. Anything that can be done by hand is a challenge for Morris.
Each of the furniture in the camp has been handmade here in Enkopiro (Thanks Morris!), using local materials and featuring unique designs to take care of every corner.
By making our furniture by hand, we give it a personal touch and we create pieces that have their own character and charm.

The result of the magic of Maasai Mara: Ian was born and Enkopiro emerged
In 2019, after several years together and already married for several years, Marta and Morris embarked on a new challenge: a project that would not only preserve an elephant corridor around the Maasai Mara, but would also become the embodiment of their dreams: Enkopiro, a small eco-sustainable camp, emerged as the center of our love for safaris. Today, it is more than a professional project; It is the project of your life, a testimony of our unwavering commitment.
We both feel at home on this earth, and with the Enkopiro project, the most important of our lives emerged: our son, Ian, who was born in March 2020 in the midst of camp construction, just days before the Covid pandemic, defying all odds.
Marta
Less than three months old, Ian set foot in Enkopiro for the first time. Without a doubt, he is the most incredible little warrior, known here by the name “Reteti”, the name with which the Maasai elders baptized him; he is the energy of it, the joy of it and the true heart of Enkopiro.

Why is it a sustainable camp?
Exterior of tent at Enkopira camp.
It is not enough to say that an accommodation is sustainable without delving into the reasons. The term “sustainable” has become too common, and it is our responsibility to investigate the reasons or good practices and thus evaluate the efforts made by the accommodation to achieve it. Next, we present the Enkopiro projects and their actions:
Conservation and preservation of ecosystems
Enkopiro manages the Ololasurai Conservation Area, which plays a vital role in protecting the ecosystem of the Ololasurai Valley and its diverse fauna and flora. The conservation area is part of the Maasai Mara ecosystem, less than 15 km from the Sekenani access gate, bordering the conservation area of Isaaten, Ripoi (formerly Olarro Sud) and Siana.
Biodiversity Conservation
The Ololasurai Valley is home to a rich diversity of plants and animals, including endemic and endangered species. The conservation area protects habitats, ensures the survival of various plant and animal species, and preserves biodiversity to maintain a healthy ecosystem.
Wildlife protection
The conservation area provides a safe haven for a variety of iconic animals, helping to prevent poaching, habitat destruction and human-wildlife conflicts.
Habitat Preservation
Conservation work ensures the preservation of natural habitats, such as grasslands, forests and rivers, providing vital resources for wildlife and contributing to the balance of the ecosystem.
Ecological balance
Conservation of the Ololasurai Valley ecosystem is crucial to maintain ecological balance. By preserving natural interactions between plants, animals and their environment, essential processes such as pollination, seed dispersal, nutrient cycling and predator-prey relationships are supported.
Community involvement
Ololasurai Conservation Area engages local communities in its conservation efforts, providing employment opportunities, promoting sustainable tourism, improving local livelihoods, encouraging participation in decisions and a sense of stewardship towards the environment.
Cultural preservation
The conservation in the Ololasurai Valley contributes to preserving the cultural heritage of indigenous communities, promoting the appreciation and respect for their traditional practices, beliefs and knowledge related to the ecosystem, thus ensuring the cultural sustainability of the area.
Climate Change Actions
Protecting wildlife areas is crucial to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, building ecological resilience, and maintaining critical ecosystem services. Ololasurai Conservancy plays a vital role in protecting the ecosystem and Ololasurai Valley wildlife, fostering appreciation, support and conservation efforts in the region.
Wildlife conservation project
Enkopiro creates lasting impacts through its unwavering commitment to sustainability. His tireless efforts focus on ecosystem conservation and empowerment of the Maasai community, ensuring a legacy that truly makes a difference.
